In offering private and semi-private lessons, urban ballerina provides a completely individualized experience that focuses on each dancer’s unique needs.

All programmes will vary in structure depending on the dancer’s level and requirements. At the end of lesson one, an assessment will be made and any concerns will be discussed with parents directly. In some cases, recommendations may be made to see a physiotherapist or to change shoes, wear insoles etc.

Recorded music is used during class, though sometimes no music is used at all. During exam rehearsals, pianists can be used to compliment the examination preparation package (at an additional charge of $40/hr).

Fees & cancellations

All students are given a three-week grace period immediately following a ten-week term to allow for make-up of previously cancelled classes, after which no further make-up opportunities will be given. Once the ten-week schedule commences, the end date is fixed and cannot be extended. Please make sure you understand the schedule before confirming attendance. Refunds are available up to and including, but not after the second lesson. Please schedule vacations with care and discuss before the start of each session.

Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the start of your lesson. If we start late, the lesson will still end on time. If for any reason, the teacher arrives late, then missed time will be added at the end of the lesson. If cancellation is required, please do so by phone allowing at least 48hrs notice. If cancellation is not received within the 48hr time, the missed class is non-refundable. Studio time is always non-refundable. If a missed class needs to be made up, the client must pay the additional studio time of $25. A $30 fee is applied to all NSF cheques.

Fees are due before the start of each ten-week term, made payable to urban ballerina. In the event of medical or other emergencies, a refund will be issued as long as valid documentation is provided.

Payment options

The following options are available to pay your fees in advance of our first lesson:

Interac email transfer: Offered by most banks, this is the easiest and fastest way to pay, requiring only the recipient’s email address ( and an agreed-upon security question and answer. Your bank will charge a standard fee of $1.50 for this option. Read more on the Interac website, or contact your bank for more details.

Cheque: Must be mailed directly to Ms. Wade 7 days prior to term start date.

Though the studio has a comfortable atmosphere, we ask dancers to use their best judgement and to wear suitable, close-fitting gear that ensures that the teacher can observe their placement.
